A Prayer for Today

God, teach me lessons for living so I can stay the course. Give me insight so I can do what You tell me – my whole life one long obedient response. Guide me down the road of your commandments; I love traveling this freeway! Give me an appetite for your words of wisdom, and not for piling loot. Divert my eyes from toys and trinkets, invigorate me on the pilgrim way. Affirm your promises to me – promises made to all who fear you. Deflect the harsh words of my critics – but what you say is always so good. See how hungry I am for for your counsel; preserve my life through your righteous ways!

~Psalm 119:33-40

Today’s Quote on God’s Will

“God’s will is sometimes hard to follow. He asks us to do the right things. He calls us to endure hardship without complaining; to love awkward people, to heed the voice inside us that says, You mustn’t; to take steps we’d rather not take. So we must tell our souls all day long: “Hey soul, listen up. Be silent. Do what Jesus is asking you to do.”

~David H. Roper

Today’s Quote on Following Christ

“As Christians, we’ll frequently be tempted to compromise in order to avoid misunderstanding, criticism, rejection, or persecution. But as Christ’s followers, we are called to live a crucified life – and compromise undercuts the wholehearted nature of crucifixion. We cannot pursue the acceptance of the world and at the same time follow the Lord. Until we stand with both feet on the side of obedience, we forfeit assurance of God’s peace and blessings.”     ~Dr. Charles Stanley

Scripture for Reflection: Matthew 10:1-42

Today’s Quote on Fear

“At times, obedience is a struggle, as the mind considers all the reasons God’s path is illogical. When fear takes over, our reasoning says we should run the other way, and we don’t want to comply. But obedience is always the best choice, because our loving Father can be trusted.”  ~Dr. Charles Stanley

Scripture for Reflection: Joshua 6:1-14

A Prayer for Today…

“Lord, sometimes we must simply pray: ‘I believe. Help my unbelief.’ Help us trust You by doing what You have given us to do today.”

~Our Daily Bread

Today’s Quote on Inner Rest

“If you are not living according to the will of God but independent of Him, you will never be happy and experience inner rest.”   ~Sunday Adelaja

Scripture for Reflection: Hebrews 4:1-16

A Prayer for Today…

“Lord, thank You for Your indwelling Spirit, who is willing and able to direct me in the ways You want me to go. May I not take You where You don’t want to go. May I not enlist You to do my wll but humbly submit to doing Yours.”
