Not Meeting Expectations

I feel sad and overwhelmed today, like I’m smothering, trying to catch my breath while digging myself out of a dark hole. Simply because I’m still learning what it involves to forgive myself and to extend grace to myself.

What happened? Two things stole my joy and left me feeling less than. I spiraled because of W-O-R-D-S – comments and questions made “out of loving concern.”

I’m sure these people thought they were helping me, but their conversations included their expectations of me, how they viewed my life, and how they believed I should live. Basically, they gave me a list of their judgments. Continue reading
